The category "A Journey thru Grief" will walk you through a very trying time for my family. I'll share with you details of that time that no one, no matter how close, has ever seen. A journal exposing the raw truth of loss and the depths of pain no one around me ever saw through the smile I made myself wear. Its important for me to share as I know how I felt then, like no one could possibly understand and thus I was alone. If I can bring some comfort to even one person going through an experience similar to mine then its worth reliving that period in my writing. I made it, I've grown and rebuilt my life. I'm living proof that there is life and peace on the other side of tremendous loss.
In "Finding Peace" I'll share with you my current journey. One where my intuition starts leading and my ego steps aside to allow me to move forward on my spiritual journey to living the life intended for me. One filled with love, purpose, service, happiness, abundance and peace.

This piece is a free write following my morning meditation. For me it is a reminder that we are all one. One with each other and our creator. Its message dissolves the loss of loved ones to death, it dissolves loneliness and insignificance. Our connectedness is unwavering and permanent, we must only choose to look and its evidence is unmistakable. May you recognize, acknowledge and truly feel the presence of God and your loved ones as you experience all that this life has to offer.
I am the waves that crash upon the shore
I am the sand that caresses your feet
I am the sun that warms your face
I am the clouds that drift softly amidst the blue sky
I am the flowing grass in the fields
I am the wind that brushes past
I am the bird that sings softly in the trees
I am the stars that light the night sky
I am the passion of lovers
I am the laughter shared with friends
I am the joy of family
I am the comfort of home
I am the wonder and innocence of a child
I am the strength and courage of a warrior
I am you and you are me, now and forever

If you have read my previous posts you already know that I started out my adult life with a job, college and a family to support. Although very much in love and happy we struggled financially to make ends meet early on and rarely had any money left over for “extras”. My husband and I survived primarily on bologna and mac & cheese so that we could afford diapers and formula for our son Matthew. In fact, I can remember coming home to a package of Twizzlers and some Pepsi on my counter and knowing instantly that my parents must have stopped by with groceries because Lord knows we could not afford those things at that time. That period was the first of many when for one reason or another I found myself trying to balance a budget that appeared hopeless. The strange thing is I can never remember thinking “this is it, we’re screwed”. I would instead search for any and every possible way I could resolve the current issue whether it was paying the electric bill, buying food, fixing the car or heating the house. We shopped the discount stores, took on extra hours at work and limited non-essential spending until all the basics were all addressed. Even when those things did not seem enough to fill the gap I always knew, somewhere deep down, that things would work out somehow.
In my late twenties I stumbled upon the passage Matthew 6, 25-34 in the bible. I was at that time a widowed single mom with four children and a large house to maintain. The life insurance I had on Derek was minimal and covered only the funeral expenses, not any of the bills we had shared responsibility for. I had taken a leave of absence from work to help my children get back on their feet and I was sinking further into debt each day trying to keep our family afloat. I prayed each night then as I always had but don’t remember ever praying for money. My prayers were often for strength and healing for my children. Somehow though God always managed to send help every time when we needed it most. Random boxes of food dropped off, fire department members chopping our firewood to heat the house, one of my previous employers sending three thousand dollars that had been donated from employees throughout the company and the list goes on and on. This passage is a firm outward reminder of the knowledge ingrained in each one of us. The knowledge that when you live your life for others, for God, you need not worry for he will meet all of your needs and more. “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness”, don’t concern yourself with things of this world but rather focus your attention on why you are here, to be a reflection of him. We were given the gift of life to show love, compassion and caring to all we encounter. When that is the focus of our lives we have no need to worry.

Turn inspiration into creation!
Take action on the spark that ignites a fire within you to do or create something. Too often we talk ourselves out of taking action. We think of all possible hurdles, of every way things could go wrong. Or we convince ourselves that now isn’t the right time that another day, week or year is somehow better. All that’s promised is now, now is the time to take action. You are good enough, smart and prepared enough just as you are. It’s time to turn your focus to all the ways things will work out perfectly. Take that first step and watch the universe rise to meet you.

Allow peace #My2018
Sounds great right, but what does that mean and how do you do it? Allowing peace is simply choosing to not engage in other people’s unnecessary drama, choosing to not focus on past issues or hurts and choosing not to worry about what may or may not go wrong in the future. Allow yourself to be content in your now. www.DesignYourBeautifulLife.com

Be grateful #My2018

Appreciation for your now, even if it is not exactly what you want for your tomorrow will improve your day and will assist you in moving closer to your ideal future. www.DesignYourBeautifulLife.com

Daydream more worry less #My2018
Give yourself a break from all the stress and allow your mind to wander on to something wonderful. A great memory of a time you were super happy, excited or grateful. Maybe think about what it will be like when you achieve something you’ve been working towards. Take a few minutes to soak in those feelings before you return to your day. ❤️ www.DesignYourBeautifulLife.com #MY2018

Remember to just breathe #My2018
With all of our hectic schedules it’s easy to get wrapped up in the chaos. Many times the very best thing we can do for ourselves is to take a couple of minutes to just breathe. Clear the mind and focus only on our breath in and out. Breathing in the good and exhaling any negative feelings/energy. Even a few moments devoted to this each day has proven to alleviate stress and improve cognitive function. #MY2018 www.DesignYourBeautifulLife.com

Here we are again amidst the bustle of the holidays!
I must admit I absolutely love this time of year. The lights, the gatherings and all the sweet treats! Although much less popular I must also admit that this time of year has not always been easy for me. Whether it was dealing with the loss of a loved one during the holiday season or just managing all the extra stresses we face during the holidays. There have been years when I just wanted to throw in the towel. Have someone wake me up on January 2nd so I could avoid all of it. My best friend actually showed up on Christmas one year with chinese food and a cute note saying "pour some duck sauce on your head and go back to bed". Well of course it said other things that were loving and supportive but that was my favorite part. She's the reason ordering chinese food on Christmas day became an annual tradition. I’ve learned many things along the way that have allowed me to once again truly enjoy the holiday season. One thing in particular has always helped and that’s having someone there to listen, confide in and cheer me on. It’s for that reason I always offer substantial savings on my services at this time of year. I want to be there for you!
Life gets hard, let’s do this together!

Are you living your truth or someone else’s? Not sure let’s find out. Play with me here for a moment. Close your eyes and imagine your ideal life. A life you get to create, one that will truly light you up inside. How do you spend your time? What do you do for work? What do you do for fun? How much time is allotted for each? Ready? Have that visual and feeling down? Good, now compare that to your current day to day. How much is the same? How much is different? If you said it’s a mirror image Congratulations! You are by far in the minority. If you did not then you are with the vast majority. Those who have allowed “shoulds” to dictate many aspects of their lives. Ones like “I should have to struggle to succeed”, or “I should work for someone else”.. ..the list goes on and on to how we dress, eat and spend our time. All imposed by our culture and those closest to us. Too often we take the passenger seat in our own lives. We do what others tell us we should without ever stopping to figure out if it feels right for us. Sadly then we find ourselves feeling depressed or simply unfulfilled. Luckily it’s never too late to jump on over to the drivers seat and point ourselves in a better direction! Why not start today? What’s one small thing you can change today because it’s what you want and because it feels right for you, not because of any “shoulds”?
